When is a snowflake a sunflake?

That title sounds like a cereal based dad joke but it’s not meant to be!

At the weekend, the smol dog was sunbathing in the garden when I felt her trying to tell me something.

I tuned in - "snowflake".

Huh? The sky was clear blue. It was warm! It wasn’t about to snow.

Snowflakes,” she insisted.

When an animal communicates with certainty about something that doesn’t make sense, I know to think laterally.

“Show me more,” I asked.

This time, I saw bright orange and yellow sunlight and tiny hexagons dancing in the air - she was enjoying watching sun glares (which I later learned are called bokeh) and wanted to share the experience with me.

It was a reminder that animal communication isn’t always literal. It can sometimes take a bit of decoding. The mind translates sixth-sense messages into something more familiar. The first time, I got “hexagonal things in the air” and my mind supplied snowflakes - because that's the most likely answer. The second time, with more context, I got it right.

The lesson? If a message doesn’t make sense at first, don’t give up! Whether it’s from an animal, an intuitive hunch, or a sign, true meaning often unfolds better when given some patience and curiosity.

Psst! I wouldn’t have been able to work this out without my inner library - skill number 7 on my free guide to the skills you need develop to be an animal communicator! Grab your free copy here!
